Perrins Residence
Time to Shine
Balwyn, Victoria
This pergola was falling apart and becoming dangerous and a health hazard. The box gutters were leaking, the fascia rotted, and drastic action was required to make the structure safe. The entire guttering system was pulled down and re-built from scratch, new beams were put in place and a new system installed which has the water running all the way to a tank to feed the pool, toilets and water the garden.
The pergola roof is pitched as a butterfly roof, allowing the heat to rise and escape, rather then getting caught underneath, thus transferring heat into the house. A poly-carbonate was used for the roofing, which means one can look up and through just like glass, but cutting the UV and heat transfer by over 60 percent.
